WICCI Southern Australia

I am an Executive Member of WICCI Southern Australia, part of the Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a national business chamber for women with councils and networks across India and abroad.

In June 2026 I co-hosted Future: Unwrapped, Redesigning a World Without Waste, a global webinar bringing together scientists, conservationists, entrepreneurs and educators from Australia, India and the UAE. What struck me was not the topic. It was the room. Women who show up not only for themselves but for each other, and for something larger than any of them.

That is what the chamber is for, and it is why I said yes. It sits alongside the full background to how I work.

Careers in Australia

Job applications were my full time job in 2009. I sent hundreds. I rewrote my resume until I could not see it any more. I went to interviews I thought had gone well and heard nothing back, and I could not work out what I was doing wrong.

What I was missing was cultural context, and nobody hands it to you at the airport.

So I wrote it down. Everything I wish someone had told me on day one is here, free, for anyone who needs it.

Sydney Saheli Circle

A friendship circle for women in Sydney. Not a network, not a program, not a pitch. Just women who found each other and decided to keep showing up.

Migration is lonely in a way that is difficult to explain to people who have not done it. You can build the career and still have nobody to call on a Sunday. This is a small answer to that.

Why any of this matters

I have spent my professional life on the argument that the system should work for the person in front of it, not the other way around. Community work is the same argument, made somewhere the system does not reach. It runs alongside a professional life built in Sydney.

Fifteen years ago I was the one who needed someone to explain how it all worked. Nobody did. So now I do.
